Ivy Haoyin Hsieh is an associate professor in the Graduate Program of Multicultural Education at the National Dong Hwa University. Born and raised in Taiwan, Ivy received her Ph. D. from the University of Florida and taught in the US before returning to her home country to work with local teachers and students.
Ivy has taught courses related to languages, cultural issues, children’s literature, and teacher training for about 20 years. With her international experiences, Ivy served as a local advisor for Fulbright ETAs, (English Teaching Assistants), took college students to South East Asian countries to do service (in the Global Service Internship program), and established a Glocal Action Practice Program to promote global and local connections. She brought college students to read picture books with the kids in indigenous tribes and local communities, hoping to plant seeds in the students and kids for them to enjoy reading.
