Rose Wedemeyer is the Director of Education Training at the Oakland University William Beaumont (OUWB) School of Medicine. At OUWB, Dr. Wedemeyer oversees one of the largest service-learning assignments across the university. Each year, she collaborates with classroom teachers and administrators in partner school districts to facilitate the "Medical Student as Educator" service-learning assignment. Now in its tenth year, this initiative has been well received within the schools and by medical students. Dr. Wedemeyer has presented on this work within the state and regionally. Dr. Wedemeyer also consults with members of OUWB student interest groups, namely, the Pediatric Interest Group and the Student National Medical Association, to promote scholarly activity and community engagement. Additionally, Dr. Wedemeyer demonstrates an established record of securing grant funding for programs which will strengthen the future of the health workforce by promoting careers in the health professions to youth under-represented in medicine.
