Dr. Jalene Tamerat is the Associate Director of Community-Engaged Teaching and Research at Northeastern University. Drawing from her background as an urban educator and researcher focusing on asset-based approaches to community engagement and academic instruction, Jalene guides Northeastern faculty in collaborative processes that build toward confianza: mutuality and a willingness to reciprocate. Jalene is the co-author of Education Across Borders: Immigration, Race, & Identity in the Classroom (Beacon Press, 2022).
