Julia Garrett is Associate Teaching Professor in the English Department’s Writing Program at Northeastern who has specialized in community-engaged teaching during the past 9 years. Two prominent areas of research have focused on food justice scholarship and local action, as well as supporting immigrant non-profits and emerging immigrant writers. During her time at Northeastern, her students have developed projects to support the missions of several community partners, including the Dominican Development Center, NU Mutual Aid, Haley House, The Food Project, Lifeboat Boston Food Pantry, and Community Servings.
