Camelia Constantinescu works at the International Baccalaureate (IB) as the Curriculum Manager for two core components of the Career-related Programme (language development/ language and cultural studies, and service learning/ community engagement) and for the new Diploma Programme language and culture course. Camelia holds a PhD in linguistics and shifted from academia and research to secondary education. She was a language acquisition and theory of knowledge teacher and DP Coordinator/ Deputy Head Academic before joining the IB in 2020. She is passionate about community engagement, language learning and pedagogy, and sustainability-related education; she finds her interests come together at the intersection between linguistic and cultural diversity, language rights and broader issues of social and ecological justice. She is also keenly interested in deeper explorations of philosophical and pedagogical underpinnings of (an IB) education, and has been active in various projects in these and other areas within the IB and beyond.
