Daria Lynch (she/they) is a PhD researcher at the University of York studying the history and spatial politics of migration in York, working in collaboration with the York Civic Trust and funded by the White Rose College of Arts & Humanities. Daria is a trained specialist in the socio-cultural and environmental histories of modern Turkey, Russia, and Germany with a Master's from the University of Oxford. Her master’s dissertation focused on environmental and migrant history, with a particular emphasis on the spatial politics of urban gardens in Germany and the involvement in them of migrant communities. She is driven in her work to find solutions to issues of inclusion, representation and accessibility. Her project, “Redefining ‘Yorkness’ through York’s Migrant Heritage” is a community-based ethnographic approach to decolonising York’s heritage and heritage industry.
