Cameron Bertrand is the CEO and founder of the following: the Gun Violence Intervention & Prevention Outreach & Research Center (GVIP), Violence Intervention & Prevention (VIP) LLC and VIP Inc (nonprofit) ; as well as the creator and owner of BuyBackTheBlock and Beyond The Bullet.
Cameron specializes in violence prevention, leadership, and community engagement that is tailored towards the communities he serves. As a trauma survivor of gun violence, Cameron advocates for, and provides, wrap-around services, trauma-informed care approaches and programs, as well as opportunities of enrichment to students and families in dozens of cities throughout the world; especially those in underserved areas.
VIP LLC, provides the counseling, mentorship and advocacy necessary to help youth and adults transition from or prevent personal and community experiences with violence and trauma. As a national community activist and organizer, Cameron is a patron for equity, civic engagement, and advocating policies and legislation that will provide trauma informed, evidence-based, outcome driven solutions and approaches in our community to prevent violence and/or trauma. BuyBackTheBlock is his merchansing brand that helps sustatain our programs so that we may keep our services free to the people we serve.
Cameron is an alumnus and community partner of Christopher Newport University. He also served in the United States Army for four years as a 27 Delta Paralegal, and is a two time published author. Through his third and newest organization, the Gun Violence Intervention & Prevention Outreach & Research Center, the trauma recovery team has been able to provide FREE: grief support counseling, physical therapy for Gun Violence Survivors, and a 24/7 crisis hotline.
As Cameron continues to fight against some of the very things he is still healing from, his drive to turn his pain into power, has continued to change the world one person at a time.
