Jody is a Ph.D. candidate in urban planning and development at the University of Southern California. Her dissertation focuses on how urban planning creates new forms of policing in its pursuit of public safety and sustainable (re)developments. She approaches her work through community-engaged scholarship, and has been building power with an LA-based abolitionist group. Additionally, Jody is a graduate teaching assistant with the USC Joint Educational Project, where she supports building a reflective curriculum for undergraduate service learners. She is working with JEP to expand service learning opportunities to graduate students, including developing a community of engaged graduate scholars at USC.
