Emily Avery-Miller is Associate Teaching Professor in the English Department at Northeastern University, where she teaches first-year writing and interdisciplinary advanced writing courses. She has taught community-engaged and service-learning writing courses for eight years and has partnered with organizations that serve immigrants and young people. Her essays and criticism have appeared in WBUR’s Artery and Art New England Magazine. She also serves on the boards of Friends of Project Literacy and a co-operative pre-school.
