Dr Munien is presently an Associate Professor of Land use, in the Department of Ecology and Environmental Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Water School, United States. She has an MS degree in remote sensing and forest health and a PhD in renewable energy and rural development. She has published articles in several peer-reviewed journals, and multiple book chapters and presented her research at several international conferences. Her research unpacks human-environment interactions/systems to better understand sustainability and vulnerability from both natural and social perspectives. A key aspect underpinning her research is the use of transdisciplinary approaches and blended methodologies for problem-solving. This has led to her participation in local and international multi-institutional programmes. Her current projects include studies on land use systems, climate-related responses and resilience, energy poverty and behaviour, and socio-hydrological vulnerability. She has successfully supervised masters and doctoral graduate students.
